Rafflecopter name is Maya Russell. What annoys me most about bra buying is that they might be supportive in the cups but have thin straps or vice versa.
There may be other brands that offer support all round the bra. It’s worth trying a few on to see what works for you & then trying to stick to that company/style if they work for you.
I find that the larger bra’s sell out far too quickly and I can rarely find my size. There is a lot less selection too, often boring colours and plain designs which make you feel frumpy.
Bra shopping is my least favorite kind of shopping as I feel deflated with the choices or selection left for my size.
It’s a lot of people’s least favourite shopping exercise, which is why the Bra Lady home bra fitting service often works well for ladies like you. Admittedly there aren’t many of us in UK, yet, but we’ll get there!
Have you tried online shopping for bras? I know it’s not ideal, but you should find a selection in your sizes more easily. Most shops offer free returns, including bras4all! 😉

Two things annoy me about bra buying. One is the lack of gorgeous bras in big back & cup sizes. The second is the way some fitters make you un-comfortable. By walking in and out while your changing etc
1. Have you tried Fantasie & Elomi ranges? We find this gives us enough option for our larger back & cup sized ladies.
2. All bra fitters do things differently, and it’s a very personal experience. Maybe tell the bra fitter at the start of the fitting how you want it work, and ask them to check with you before entering the fitting room.
I hate the fact that I can buy a bra of the same size from two different places and they fit completely differently
I had this experience fitting a lady this afternoon. 2 bras from same company with very different cup shapes – 1 suited her breast shape, the other didn’t.
I’m afraid it’s like shoe shopping – the fabric, cut and style of the bra will affect how it fits. Try them on & if it’s right for you, it’s the right size in that particular style. Not ideal, but that’s how it works! 😉
I’ve never been professionally fitted (it all just kind of freaks me out: where do I go? how do they do it? scary!)
You’re not alone by a long way! Every shop & bra fitter will do things differently. If you want to give it a go, ask them what they do. As mirrorballgall said above, some don’t tell you what’s going on.
This may give you an idea about what goes on in a bra fitting, although this is in the luxury of a home & is for specialist bras. However, the principles are the same for any bra fitting you have. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=22866YyX1So
We are available to give advice by phone and email, and even skype if you don’t think that’s too weird! Whatever method suits you, we’ll do our best to Support You.
Just when you find one that fits perfectly, the metal clasps break – why dont they make them stronger? i don’t like the lack of consistency in measurements / fitting.
Not many places do nice ones in small sizes, end up having to buy teenage ones
